March 8th The international women's day by CYSM

The International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8th every year and is a festival to honor women and their fight for a fairer society, with the same rights as men. This celebration has his origin in the Second International Conference of Socialist Women assembled in Copenhagen (Denmark) in August, 1910. At this meeting the proposal of Clara Zetkin to proclaim March 8 as the International Day of Working Women was adopted. The first countries to adopt this day were Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark.

Since then all nations were called, which considering its historical traditions, proclaim one day of the year as United Nations Day for Women's Rights and International Peace. While in the early years the celebration was held in late February, after 1914 was established on March 8 in different countries of Europe. It was in 1977 that the United Nations institutionalized this date as the International Day for Women's Rights and International Peace, which has led many countries to join this commemoration.
